Biggest Triathlon European Championships ever since
The Olympic Champion Nicola Spirig (Swiss) and Alistar Brownlee (England) are taking part in the European Championships in Kitzbuehel.
The first Triathlon European Championships at Kitzbuehl are going to be the biggest EC in its 30year history. For the second time, since the Olympic Games in London 2012, both, the female Olympic Champion Nicola Spirig and the male Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee, are going to compete on the same racecourse.
More than A2,400 competitors out of 40 nations are going to fight for the European Champions title in Kitzbuehel from June 19th until June 22nd. Beside the titles for the elite athletes also the age group European Champions will be crowned on that weekend. There are 1,600 age groupers listed already, 'We are looking forward to welcome twice as many athletes as we had last year in Turkey', mentioned Herwig Grabner, the director of the event. The boom around the Olympic distance as well as the sprint distance in Austria is indicated by the fact that, not less than about 500 Austrians could qualify for the European Championships. The nation with the most starters will be the UK with about 600 athletes.
Elite European Championship
Kitzbuehel is looking forward welcoming the best triathletes of Europe at the beginning of the qualification process for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
75 elite women and elite men are going to compete on a multi-lap-course, two swimming laps of 750 meters, and six bike laps of 7.2kilometers à round and four running labs of 2.5kilometers. In total, 1.5k swim, 43.2k bike and 10k run. A winning time of approximately 1 hours 50 minutes in the men's race and about 2 hours in the ladies race is expected.
On Sunday, June 22nd Kitzbuehel also stages the Team European Championships where fours athletes of the same nations counts as a team. Each team athlete will challenge a super-sprint triathlon consisting of a 0.2k swim, 8.6k bike and 2.4k run

Course Details European Championship Elite Individual
The European Championship for Elite athletes will be held on olympic distance format for men and women. On a "Multilap-Course" athletes needs to swim two laps, followed by six bike laps and finally four running

Course Details European Championship Elite Team Relay
The European Championship for Mixed-Relays will be held on the Super-Sprint format. Each athlet needs to swim 0,2 k, follow by 8,6 k on the bike and 2,4 k running split. A team consists of two Elite women and two Elite men from one country
