The Kitzbühel Alpenrally 2017 celebrates its 30th anniversary with many highlights and new attractive routes.
As a special challange, a crossing of the Glockner in the anniversary year: The Grossglockner High Alpine Road offers impressive views of the glacier world of the Hohe Tauern - a breathtaking mountain route at the foot of Austria's highest peak.
600 kilometres full of impressive scenery are on the programme for the 30th edition of the Austrian traditional rally – including some routes which have never been in the rally's roadbook before. The leading role in the 2017 tour is played by the most famous alpine peaks and mountains of the Tirolean and Salzburg alpine world. Grossglockner, Wilder Kaiser, Kitzbüheler Horn, Hohe Tauern, Lofer Mountains, Hochkönig...
GLOCKNER-CROSSING: the main stage of the anniversary rally brings a unique experience for the 200 teams: the first time crossing as part of the Alpine Rallye along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with its countless switchbacks and splendid views of Austria's highest mountains at the 3.798 metre Grossglockner. A highlight for all teams, as is crossing the finish line in the centre of Kitzbühel in front of thousands of spectators at the end of the rally on Saturday 10th of June.
30 YEARS CLASSIC CARS IN THE ALPS. Established by a group of enthusiasts around legendary award-winning and classic car fan Hasi Unterberger, the Alpenrallye has gone through a remarkable development since its first edition in 1988 with some 70 vehicles into a professional event, during which around 200 of the most beautiful classic cars of automobile history line up for the start year after year. The key to success: The wonderful backdrop of the mountains, the most scenic alpine roads, sportsmanship, exclusivity and the unique flair of Kitzbühel make the Alpenrallye a very special classic car rallye, with a touch of exclusivity added by the many famous participants from racing, the movies, TV and show, business and sports.
Almost 200 classic cars will line up for the start at the 30th Alpine Rallye, including major brands such as Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce: Splendid pre-war classics, elegant sports cars and exquisite limousines: a cross-section of the most beautiful cars from six decades of automobile history.
