After the first 4 events from day 1 of the IFSA Strongman 2006 World Championships Finals, Mikhail Koklyaev of Russia and defending World Champion Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania are tied with 40.5 points each for first place. In 2nd place is Vasyl Virastyuk of the Ukraine with 36 points, then in 3rd place with 31.5 points is home town favorite, Benedikt Magnusson. In day 2 of the IFSA Strongman 2006 World Championship Finals, it all came down to the final event as Zydrunas Savickas and Mikhail Koklyaev were tied coming into the Atlas Stones event with 68.5 points each. It took nothing less than a new world record on the Atlas Stones to clinch the 2006 IFSA Strongman World Championship title as Zydrunas Savickas set an incredible time of 25.65 to re-claim his title as the IFSA Strongman World Champion and the Strongest Man in the World. The head-to-head race caused 5 official World Records.
