52st International Austrian ALPINE RALLY 2009, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria, 17th – 19th September 2009

The World’s Oldest Classic Rally...
...join the Legend – since 1910

The International Austrian Alpine Classic Rally for veteran cars is the world’s oldest existing Classic Rally and considered to be a revival of the famous Alpine Races, taking place from 1910 to 1973. The international Austrian Alps circuit was the most important mountain rally event held in that time period. In all of Europe it was the single most significant automobile event in terms of prestige, tradition and sport.

Up to 120 historical automobiles until and inclusive the year of construction 1978 receive an approval and are accredited for this Rally. The route leads through various countries on paved roads, concrete or asphalt. Start and destination on all days of this Classic Rally is Bad Kleinkirchheim in Carinthia in Austria.

Also in 2009 the Teams of 120 limited vehicles can expect glorious landscapes, challenging beautiful alpine passes as well as exciting sport experience. The entire route of this Classic Rally of approximately 1,000 km is divided into three stages.

Again this year the best of the top national and international teams and their old-timer vehicles will be at the start in Bad Kleinkirchheim in Austria. The village Bad Kleinkirchheim is situated in Carinthia’s mountains, so called “Nockberge” and has been well known for many years as a health and fitness/spa centre and mountain resort. With the International Austrian Alpine Classic Rally (so called “Internationale österreichische Alpenfahrt” in German), the Alpine tourist centre has expanded the variety of services and tourist experiences it offers.

The scoring - as precise as in Formula 1 - 25 special tests
Each team will obtain a Boarding card in which all driving times are individually noted. This is applicable for each day. The exact driving times are monitored by time controls, hidden time controls as well as marked and unmarked checkpoints. So, no top speeds, no racing but precise driving is required. Up to date Formula 1 technology will be used in this Alps Circuit to ensure not only precise driving but also precise measuring.
